Cognitiv has opened an engineering and data hub in Vancouver, its first office outside the United States.

The site will house teams working on big data, web data collection, attribution and machine learning operations. It will also serve as a base for data governance and modelling that supports the company's advertising technology business.

The move marks an international expansion for the US advertising technology group, which has built its business around deep learning tools for marketers. The Vancouver team will help manage and streamline data use across the business as operations grow.

Eifphriame Angeles, Senior Director of Engineering, is leading the local team and reports to Stephen Curial, SVP of Engineering. The Vancouver operation is intended to support scientists and engineers working on the company's models by reducing delays in data handling and decision-making.

Cognitiv chose Vancouver in part for its alignment with teams on the US west coast and its access to local engineering talent. The company cited the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University as part of the region's talent pipeline.

Growth backdrop

The expansion follows a period of growth in Cognitiv's product portfolio and customer base. ContextGPT recorded 388% adoption growth in 2025, while new client numbers rose 67% in the same year.

That momentum continued with the launch of AudienceGPT and a full-funnel connected television advertising product in 2026. Those developments increased the need for more structured data management and governance as the company expanded its reach.

The Vancouver hub is also expected to play a role in how Cognitiv responds to global data privacy rules. As its international data footprint grows, the new team will focus on building systems that can scale responsibly while supporting client campaigns.

The company is led by co-founders Jeremy Fain, Chief Executive Officer; Dr Aaron Andalman, Chief Science Officer; and Marc Hudacsko, Chief Technology Officer. Their leadership has overseen the development of products including AudienceGPT, ContextGPT, custom algorithms, a demand-side platform and connected television tools.

Curial said the decision to establish a Canadian base reflected both growth and the practical demands of managing larger data operations.

"Vancouver represents the next step in Cognitiv's growth story, an incredible technical talent pool, and the chance to build a team from the ground up dedicated to responsible data stewardship and infrastructure. As Cognitiv scales, that foundation matters as much as the models we build on top of it," said Stephen Curial, SVP of Engineering, Cognitiv.

He added that the new operation would play a direct role in the company's broader client work.

"As we continue to expand, this team will drive the innovation and results we deliver to clients with our Deep Learning Advertising Platform," Curial said.

The Vancouver hub will bring together engineering and data specialists working across several areas of Cognitiv's technology stack. Its responsibilities will include improving data collection processes and supporting the systems used to prepare information for modelling and analysis.

The team will also work on attribution and machine learning operations as the company develops its advertising products.

Data governance will remain a key part of the hub's remit as Cognitiv manages information across different markets. The office is expected to work closely with existing engineering and science teams in the US. Its location on the west coast of Canada provides a practical connection to Cognitiv's US operations.

The company also expects the local talent pool to support further hiring as the hub develops. The expansion reflects the growing technical requirements associated with Cognitiv's expanding product portfolio.

It also gives the company a dedicated base for developing infrastructure around data management and machine learning.

For Cognitiv, the Vancouver operation will form part of its broader effort to build scalable data systems alongside its advertising technology platform.
