PPDS has launched the Philips Unite LED 3000 Series worldwide, describing it as its most accessible 16:9 dvLED line to date.

The new indoor series targets sectors including retail, corporate offices, transport, education, hospitality, events and public venues. It sits within PPDS' Philips Professional Displays portfolio and expands a lower-cost segment that also includes the Philips Signage 2000 Series.

PPDS is positioning the product as a more affordable entry point into direct view LED displays while retaining features used in its higher-end COB LED products. The Philips Unite LED 3000 Series comes in four pixel pitch options: 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8pp.

The 0.9, 1.2 and 1.5pp models offer 600 nits brightness and a 3840Hz refresh rate. The 1.8pp model is specified at 1000 nits brightness and a 7680Hz refresh rate.

The panels use common cathode technology, which PPDS says improves colour accuracy, stability and energy efficiency. The range also delivers a 96% colour gamut, with deep blacks and uniform brightness intended to support applications from advertising displays to boardroom presentations.

Product range

The launch adds to PPDS' existing COB LED line-up, which includes the Philips Unite LED 5000, Philips Unite LED 6000 and Philips Unite LED 6000 All In One Series. With the 3000 Series, PPDS is broadening that portfolio to reach customers with smaller budgets or less complex installation needs.

The displays are designed for indoor environments with varying light conditions. Adaptive brightness automatically adjusts output to suit surroundings such as shop windows, transport hubs, offices and school auditoriums.

Combined with the common cathode design, that feature also underpins the company's cost argument. PPDS says lower energy draw can reduce ownership costs and extend product life compared with common anode alternatives.

Jeroen Brants, Global Product Director, LED Displays at PPDS, outlined the company's position in the market. "At PPDS, we believe premium visual experiences should be accessible to all. Historically, customers looking to deploy LED solutions at a lower price point have often faced compromises, whether in performance, reliability or ongoing support. With the Philips Unite LED 3000 Series, customers can benefit from outstanding visual quality, dependable performance, and the reassurance of working with a trusted global brand," said Brants.

Built for service

PPDS has also emphasised durability and maintenance. The front of each panel carries an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, while the rear is rated IP31.

This makes the series suitable for more demanding indoor locations, particularly where air quality may be poor. A smooth surface is intended to simplify cleaning, and the system supports both front and rear access for servicing.

Modules inside each cabinet can be unlocked and removed using a supplied T-hex tool. This arrangement allows easier access to the power supply, hub board and wiring.

The launch reflects broader competition in the professional display market, where manufacturers are trying to widen LED adoption beyond premium installations. Price remains a major obstacle for many buyers considering a move from LCD signage or projection systems to direct view LED, particularly in education, public venues and mid-market corporate environments.

By offering a 16:9 format, PPDS is also aligning the new series with common content and presentation standards. That may help reduce some of the complexity involved in deploying LED walls for routine business uses such as meeting rooms, branded spaces and information displays.

Brants said the new range was designed to serve a broad set of indoor requirements. "At PPDS, we don't believe in limitations. The Philips Unite LED 3000 Series has been designed from the ground up to deliver exceptional performance, flexibility, and value. With its 16:9 format and versatile installation options, it is ideally suited for a wide range of indoor environments - from displaying dynamic video content and detailed visuals such as spreadsheets in professional settings, to delivering fast and vibrant content feeds in applications such as public venues."

"Today's announcement represents an important step forward in making professional LED technology available to an even wider audience," Brants added.
