Ricoh Canada has received the 2026 ENERGY STAR Canada Manufacturer of the Year - Electronics Award from Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The recognition marks the sixth time since 2019 that Ricoh Canada has received the distinction. It reflects work carried out during 2025 to develop and promote ENERGY STAR-certified products and raise awareness of the programme across Canada.

Environment and Climate Change Canada recognised Ricoh Canada for a range of activities tied to certified electronics and related outreach. These included Earth Day and ENERGY STAR promotional campaigns, an expanded range of ENERGY STAR-certified imaging devices, dealer training, customer education efforts, and updates to the company's sustainability webpages to give greater prominence to ENERGY STAR branding and messaging.

Ricoh Canada also highlighted stakeholder partnerships linked to renewable energy sourcing and customers whose procurement requirements prioritise ENERGY STAR certification. Among the products cited was the RICOH SD Series, which met or exceeded the programme's technical specifications, according to the company.

Award history

The latest award extends a run of ENERGY STAR recognition for the Canadian business in recent years. Ricoh Canada described the result as part of a longer-standing environmental approach across the wider group, formally embedded in its operations 50 years ago.

According to the company, that history traces back to principles established by founder Kiyoshi Ichimura in 1946 and the creation of an Environmental Promotion Section in 1976. Ricoh said later milestones included group-wide Environmental Principles in 1992, the development of its Comet Circle circular economy concept in 1994, and the World Environment Centre Gold Medal in 2003.

The company also cited its entry into the RE100 initiative in 2017 and a 2022 certification in the United States for remanufactured imaging equipment under the ENERGY STAR programme. Together, those milestones place the Canadian award within a broader pattern of environmental initiatives across the organisation.

Ricoh operates in about 200 countries and regions and is headquartered in Tokyo. The group focuses on workplace services, printing, and related technology businesses, and reported worldwide sales of 2,608 billion yen in the financial year ended March 2026, equivalent to about USD $16.4 billion.

The Canadian award specifically covered the electronics category. The recognition was based on the company's 2025 activities, which combined product development with marketing and training intended to support broader uptake of certified devices in the market.

Those efforts included integrated campaigns aimed at dealers and customers, as well as messaging around energy reduction benefits. The redesigned sustainability webpages also formed part of the case for the award by linking certified products to the company's wider environmental objectives.

Meagan Moody, Country Manager, Ricoh Canada, commented on the recognition.

"This honor represents a significant source of pride for Ricoh Canada, as it reflects a commitment to environmental sustainability that has been part of Ricoh's DNA for 50 years," said Meagan Moody, Country Manager, Ricoh Canada.

"We are grateful to Environment and Climate Change Canada and the ENERGY STAR program for this recognition, which affirms our ongoing efforts to develop energy-efficient technologies, support our customers' sustainability objectives, and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations," Moody said.
