Amplitude launches AI Visibility to boost brands in AI search

Amplitude has announced the launch of AI Visibility, a capability designed to help marketers track and understand their brand's presence in AI-driven search results and take action to improve it.

As consumers increasingly seek recommendations from AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude, companies face a greater risk of being overlooked if their brands are not surfaced in AI-generated responses. AI Visibility from Amplitude allows marketing teams to determine where their brand appears across leading AI platforms, assess which competitors are being recommended instead, and see whether those AI-powered visits translate into customer conversions-directly within Amplitude's analytics platform.

Changing search landscape

The shift from traditional search engines to AI assistants has accelerated, with AI search adoption reportedly doubling in the last year. Consumers are more frequently consulting ChatGPT or Claude for product recommendations rather than platforms like Google. Typically, AI tools recommend only a select few products in response to a user's query, making visibility in those results increasingly critical to retaining potential customers.

Amplitude's AI Visibility addresses this scenario by providing comprehensive analytics on brand exposure within AI search answers. The feature is integrated with Amplitude's digital analytics platform, so marketing teams can connect visibility in AI responses to meaningful business outcomes such as revenue and retention. Unlike some other search engine optimisation (SEO) tools, Amplitude's approach focuses on tying AI-driven discovery directly to real-world behaviours observed within the platform.

"AI Visibility gives companies a radar for this new reality. We not only make them aware, we also help them to take action to improve right away."

Features outlined

AI Visibility includes several components intended to offer deeper understanding and actionable insights for marketers. These are:

  • Visibility score: Measurement of how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers across key large language models (LLMs) and a range of prompts.
  • Traffic and ROI tracking: Tools to connect AI mentions of a brand to user interactions and conversions within the Amplitude platform.
  • Prompt & source analysis: Identification of contexts in which a brand is absent from AI answers, as well as review of the sources informing the AI outputs.
  • Competitive rankings: Comparative analytics to show where a brand stands against its competitors and highlight any areas falling behind.
  • Actionable recommendations and next steps: The ability to analyse web pages, receive improvement suggestions, view simulated changes, and generate content designed to enhance a brand's likelihood of being surfaced in LLMs.
  • Sentiment analysis: A forthcoming feature that will provide insights into user sentiment about a brand across different LLMs, supporting further optimisation of AI-based visibility.

Amplitude states that these features help address what has become a significant area of concern for businesses as generative AI becomes integral to consumer decision-making. A recent report from Gartner highlights this point:

"As generative AI applications proliferate and move from development sandboxes to mission-critical production systems, the need for specialised observability becomes paramount. Organisations are discovering a significant 'LLM visibility gap' where traditional observability platforms and machine learning monitoring tools fall short."

Availability and pricing

AI Visibility is being rolled out at no additional cost for all existing Amplitude customers and is included with every plan. There is also a free, limited version available for non-Amplitude customers.
